About Hakone Tour
A guide for your day, or days, in Hakone
Hakone Tour is an independent guide for everyone planning a trip to Hakone in Japan. Here you will find how a coach day from Tokyo to Hakone and the Fuji lakes works, how the day tours from Tokyo compare, what there is to do in Hakone, how its hot springs, ryokan and private baths work, what to expect at the Hakone Open-Air Museum, how to get from Tokyo by train, bullet train or bus, how the Hakone Tozan Railway climbs to Gora, how Hakone compares with Kyoto, how to walk the old Tokaido road, what Hakone-Yumoto offers, which months suit a visit, and when a private tour makes sense.
The site is available in English and five additional languages. It is written first in English.
How we research
Every number on our pages comes from a source that we link to at the bottom of the page: mostly the Hakone Tourist Association, Odakyu and its Hakone guide, Visit Kanagawa, the Hakone Open-Air Museum and the Japan Tourism Agency, with the Japan Meteorological Agency's official 1991 to 2020 normals for its Odawara station (temperature) and its Hakone station (rain), and day length we calculate ourselves. Information on tours, that is duration, languages, inclusions, and starting prices, is taken from the offers on GetYourGuide.
Weather in the Hakone mountains changes fast, views of Mount Fuji come and go, and timetables and fares change from season to season. Listings also differ in what they include, a boat ticket above all, and a coach day is not a stay. That is why we tell you plainly what a listing states and what it leaves open.
How we make money
Hakone Tour is funded through the GetYourGuide affiliate program. When you book through one of our links, we receive a commission; your price remains the same. There are no advertising banners here, and we do not sell your data.
Who is behind it
Hakone Tour is run by Lukas Weber from Munich. You will find all details about the provider in the legal notice. The easiest way to send questions, comments, or corrections is to email [email protected].
